Why setup business in China?

With a population of 1.5 billion people, China is the most populous country in the world. Of that 1.5 billion population around 500 600 million are consumers. This equates to just over the population of the entire European Union.

The Chinese government over recent years has made a big push towards turning the Chinese economy into a service based economy with services such as IT and Financial services. As the UK & Ireland economies are along the lines of service based economies it creates excellent opportunities for businesses. The Chinese government has also over recent times made it easier for foreign businesses to enter into China by creating free trade zones and making regulations less restrictive.

In Hong Kong the business enviornment is more western due to the history of being a former British colony. Some businesses may prefer to setup in Hong Kong due to less red tape compared to the mainland market. However this is fast changing.
